APPLICATION OF GILLESPIE ALGORITHM FOR SIMULATING EVOLUTION OF FITNESS OF MICROBIAL POPULATION

In this study we present simulation system based on Gillespie algorithm for generating evolutionary events in the evolution scenario of microbial population. We adjusted to reproducing experimental data obtained barcoding studies – techniques microbiology allowing tracing populations with very high resolution. engine is constructed by defining its state vector and rules modifications. order efficiently simulate barcoded experiment using provide modification - binning cells lineages. Different bins define components algorithm. The elaborated model captures population growth including death, division mutations cells. results reflect behavior, mutation wave distribution along generations. methodology confronted against literature yeast tracking clones sub-generations. Simulation was fitted measurements leading good agreement.
